TOTEME in Copenhagen

TOTEME in Copenhagen

Colours used: HA RO 17 Mercer Street by Halleroed in three different finishes throughout the entire space.

Following Los Angeles, New York, Paris and London, the sought-after womenswear brand has inaugurated a standalone boutique in Copenhagen. Occupying a lofty ground floor unit on the premises of the imposing Egmont Building, seat of an eponymous media company, in the heart of the Danish capital, the store design effortlessly matches the Nordic aesthetic of the monumental 1930s building. The TOTEME store joins a number of retail spaces of leading Danish fashion and lifestyle brands in the downtown area, such as Tekla, Baum und Pferdgarten, Henrik Vibskov and Nuit et Linette.

Similar to TOTEME's other retail spaces, a well-balanced configuration unfolds when shoppers enter the premises. Taking centre stage is a seating area with armchairs by Austrian-Swedish designer Josef Frank for Stockholm-based design brand Svenskt Tenn, and placed on a large-sized rug in a matching hue. The seating area comes with a custom-made light fixture, and it’s flanked on two sides by identical elongated travertine display tables - mind you, one serves as a base for a vitrine laden with jewellery pieces, while the other is a generous pedestal to a bronze figurine by sculptor Gerhard Henning.
