Blēo, from the Old English for “colour, hue, or complexion”, is a Copenhagen-founded, design-led surface brand working with leading architects, designers, and artists to develop architectural colours across paint and tiles. Blēo offers a curated alternative to standardised colour systems, creating considered palettes that make colour easier to live with and richer to experience. We explore how tone and texture meet: how colour behaves across surfaces, and how light interacts with glaze, pigment, and form.
Choosing colour and material can be overwhelming. Blēo simplifies the process through surfaces developed in close collaboration with leading creatives, where both paint and tile are treated as architectural media and sites of experimentation.
Instead of thousands of standardised shades, we create carefully composed palettes. Each palette tells a story and brings together 8–29 complex, intuitive colours that work effortlessly alone or in combination. Every Blēo colour is built from multiple pigments, giving depth, nuance, and subtle movement as tones shift with light, time, and context. Colours are alive, never static, then formulated as paint or translated into tile. Our handmade tiles carry the same philosophy, embracing natural variation and tactility so each surface has its own character.
All colours are developed in our Colour Lab in Denmark and produced locally in Copenhagen and in the US for North America, ensuring precision, richness, durability, and a more mindful footprint.
Blēo is not about exhaustive ranges. It is about curation, collaboration, and expression. By extending signature colours across paint, tiles, and more to come, we aim to redefine how colour lives in our surroundings: as clarity, atmosphere, and everyday beauty.
