aarticles Collection 01, Copenhagen
Founded by Kasia Sznajder and Fred Aartun, aarticles is a curatorial platform exploring the relationship between contemporary craft, design and collectable objects. Collection 01 marked its public debut, bringing together works by emerging and established makers in an exhibition centred on materiality, composition and process.
Presented in Blēo's Copenhagen showroom, the exhibition unfolded across a carefully composed landscape of wood, metal, clay, wool and glass. Works by Agnieszka Owsianny, Shane Gabier, Yeondong Yun, Anna Fiedler, Christian + Jade, Louie Isaaman-Jones, J. Hannah, Terpsichore Savvala and the founders themselves created a dialogue between disciplines, materials and making traditions.
For the presentation at Blēo, colour became part of the exhibition architecture. Inspired by museum display techniques, carefully composed painted surfaces framed the objects using colours from the Griegst collection together with a warm neutral from Studio Andrew Trotter. Rather than functioning as a backdrop, the colours became an active part of the spatial composition, shaping light, depth and the relationship between each object.
Collection 01 reflected a shared interest in craftsmanship, thoughtful curation and material honesty, demonstrating how architecture, colour and objects can exist as one coherent experience.
