Tiles by Muller Van Severen
— an exploration of colour, material and tradition

Tiles by Muller Van Severen is a tactile exploration of colour, material, craft and tradition — shaped by centuries of craftsmanship and the designers’ distinct visual language. The tiles are made using traditional techniques rooted in the artisanal legacy of Fez, Morocco, where handmade glazed tiles have been produced for generations.
Each tile begins with pure, locally sourced clay, shaped and glazed entirely by hand using mineral-based pigments. The vibrant and nuanced colours on the tiles come from natural mineral oxides mixed into the glaze. The process of forming, firing, and cutting follows age-old methods passed down through family workshops, ensuring that every piece reflects the nuance and vitality of its making.
While the collection draws from the Zellige tradition, it moves in a new direction — one led by a contemporary design sensibility. The tiles retain the expressive imperfections that define their origins: gently irregular shapes, glossy surfaces, tonal variation, and a depth that shifts with the light.

Available in a 10 x 10 cm format, Tiles by Muller Van Severen features a palette of 12 colours, carefully developed by the Belgian design duo. The hues range from soft, understated tones to vivid, saturated statements — each selected to engage with architecture as structure, not surface. Suitable for indoor walls, the tiles lend themselves to a wide range of applications — from kitchens and bathrooms to floors, pools, living areas, and architectural details. While they can be used in pools, we do not recommend them for outdoor areas exposed to snow, as they may become slippery. Whether covering entire surfaces or used as considered accents, they bring rhythm, warmth, and a quiet intensity to any space.
We encourage an intuitive, expressive approach to tiling. Consider lining half a wall in a living room, replacing skirting with a tiled edge, framing a fireplace or doorway, or introducing unexpected colour in transitional spaces. A single tiled wall can function like a canvas; a tiled corner can become a quiet monument. Muller Van Severen’s tiles are crafted to endure — and to evolve. Their glazed surfaces make them ideal for humid environments such as bathrooms and showers, where light and moisture deepen their visual impact. With every use, they reveal new ways of seeing and inhabiting space.
Whether used to highlight an architectural gesture or transform the everyday, Tiles by Muller Van Severen offers a versatile and lasting surface language — where craftsmanship meets contemporary expression.

At Blēo, we work in close collaboration with a family-run manufacture and workshop in Morocco — a manufacture with over five decades of experience in traditional tile-making. Their craft, passed down through generations, is rooted in a profound understanding of material and form. Each tile is shaped and glazed entirely by hand, using natural clay and time-honoured techniques. The process is precise, slow, and deeply tactile — reflecting a culture of making where imperfection is not a flaw, but a mark of authenticity.
Our partnership is built on shared values: respect for material, commitment to process, and an appreciation for detail. Together, we produce tiles that carry the richness of Moroccan craftsmanship, interpreted through a contemporary lens. Every tile bears the imprint of the human hand — irregular, luminous, and unmistakably made with care.

Paint and tiles by Muller Van Severen. Twelve colours. Two materials. One visual language.
Muller Van Severen have developed a colour system: one palette for paint, one for tiles — each consisting of 12 carefully composed hues. While each collection stands on its own, they are designed to work together as well. This dual offering introduces a fresh approach to surfaces: tiles and paint not as separate finishes, but as interconnected elements — extending colour across walls, details, and dimensions.
The colours are intentionally mirrored across both collections to offer clarity and ease — making it simple to coordinate tones across spaces. While not identical, the colours are directly inspired by and interpreted through each material. Due to the nature of glazed tiles and the use of mineral pigments, a perfect one-to-one match isn't possible — but the palettes have been developed side by side to work beautifully together. Their true strength lies in their flexibility: the palette encourages mixing, matching, layering. Create subtle tonal rooms, or bold compositions with unexpected contrasts. The collection is as intuitive as it is precise — offering tools for expressive interiors that feel both cohesive and individual.
With tiles and a paint palette by Muller Van Severen, colour becomes more than a coating. It becomes a material in itself — shaping mood, guiding rhythm, and defining space.
