About
Founded by Belgian artists and designers Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen, Muller Van Severen has established itself as one of the most influential voices in contemporary collectible and industrial design. Since the studio was founded in 2011, its work has been characterised by an intuitive approach to colour, honest materials and sculptural compositions that challenge the traditional boundaries between furniture, art and architecture.
Originally trained as artists, Muller and Van Severen continue to approach design through experimentation rather than convention. Their work is guided by curiosity, proportion and the relationship between object and space, resulting in furniture that feels both functional and expressive. Whether created for the home, galleries or public institutions, every piece reflects a remarkable sense of simplicity, clarity and playfulness.
Colour has always been central to the studio's practice. Across furniture, exhibitions and interiors, Muller Van Severen consistently return to a carefully curated family of distinctive colours that have become synonymous with their work. Rather than following trends, they refine and revisit the same palette across projects, allowing colour to become an instantly recognisable part of their identity.
For Blēo, Muller Van Severen have developed both a paint collection and a handmade tile collection, bringing their unmistakable approach to colour into architectural surfaces. Together, the collections translate the studio's characteristic palette into walls, floors and interiors, allowing spaces to be shaped with the same clarity, warmth and graphic simplicity found throughout their work.
