The World’s Smallest Flagship Store, Copenhagen

The World’s Smallest Flagship Store, Copenhagen

In Copenhagen, a 40 m² space serves as the home and flagship store of Danish furniture brand a seat in Siena. Conceived as both a furniture store and design gallery, the space presents the brand’s own collection alongside a changing selection of Danish and international designers.

Founded around the use of residual wood from other design projects, a seat in Siena produces furniture locally in Denmark. The Copenhagen space extends this approach through a rotating programme, inviting a new brand each month to be presented alongside the permanent collection.

Colour is used throughout the interior to define surfaces and create transitions between the compact spaces. In the rear room, BA OS 08 Cadmium by Barber Osgerby for Blēo creates a saturated yellow backdrop, while ST SC 02 Arita by Studio Stefan Scholten is used across the surrounding walls.

Above, ST SC 01 Brut by Studio Stefan Scholten is applied to the ceiling and upper walls in High Gloss, introducing a reflective surface that responds to changing light. Panels and doors are painted in DA RY 02 Studio by Daniel Rybakken, adding a further tonal layer across the interior.

Together, the four colours distinguish individual architectural elements while maintaining a coherent setting for the furniture and objects on display.
