What makes Blēo paint different?

Blēo combines carefully developed colours with high-performance paint formulations. Colour is one thing, the base is another. Beyond colour, particular attention is given to opacity, coverage, application, durability and the final appearance of the painted surface. Our paints are developed to provide consistent results, with formulations selected for their intended applications, from walls and ceilings to wood, metal and floors. The result is paint that considers both the visual character of a colour and its performance in everyday use.

Is Blēo paint low in VOCs?

Yes. Blēo's paint range is developed with an emphasis on low VOC content, without compromising coverage, durability or application performance. VOC levels vary according to the formulation and finish. For exact values, please refer to the technical information for the selected product. Low-VOC formulations help reduce the amount of volatile organic compounds introduced during painting and drying.

What are VOCs in paint?

VOC stands for Volatile Organic Compounds. These are carbon-based substances that can evaporate into the air at ordinary temperatures. In paint, VOCs may originate from solvents and other ingredients used in the formulation. They can contribute to paint odour and affect indoor air quality during application and drying. Low-VOC paint contains reduced levels of these compounds, although VOC content alone does not describe every aspect of a paint's emissions or environmental performance.

Can I sleep in a freshly painted room?

Yes. Blēo's paints are formulated to have a low odour during application and drying. Our paint is developed for use in occupied residential spaces. In most cases, a room can be used again the same evening, provided the paint has dried sufficiently and the space has been properly ventilated.

What is the EU Ecolabel?

The EU Ecolabel is the European Union's official environmental certification for products that meet defined criteria for environmental performance and quality. For paints and varnishes, the criteria include restrictions on certain hazardous substances, limits on volatile organic compounds and requirements relating to product performance and durability. Blēo works with European manufacturing partners producing paint to EU Ecolabel standards. Certification applies to specific products rather than automatically to every finish within a brand. Please refer to the relevant product information for certification details.

What is GREENWISE certification?

GREEN WISE is an American paint certification programme developed by the Coatings Research Group, Inc. The certification evaluates paint against defined environmental and performance criteria, including VOC content, restrictions on certain chemical ingredients and product-specific quality requirements. Blēo's US paint range is manufactured in collaboration with a GREEN WISE-certified production partner. Certification status should be confirmed for the individual product and finish.

Does Blēo paint meet European and American standards?

Blēo paint is produced for different markets in accordance with the applicable regional requirements. Our European and American paint ranges are manufactured by separate production partners, with formulations and specifications adapted to their respective markets. In Europe, we work with EU Ecolabel standards, while our US production partner works with GREEN WISE certification. Technical specifications and certification status may vary between products. Why is Blēo's wood and metal paint particularly durable?

Blēo SEMI GLOSS and HIGH GLOSS are formulated as enamel-based coatings for wood and metal surfaces. Enamel-based paint is developed to form a smooth, hard-wearing finish with good resistance to everyday handling and abrasion. This makes it particularly suitable for doors, window frames, skirting boards, furniture and other frequently used surfaces. The durability of the final coating also depends on correct preparation, priming, application and sufficient curing time.

Can I repair or touch up Blēo paint?

Yes. Minor marks and localised damage can often be repaired by applying a small amount of the original paint. For the best result, use the same colour and finish, and apply the paint carefully to a clean, dry surface. A small brush or roller may be used depending on the area. Touch-ups are generally straightforward, particularly on low-sheen surfaces, although differences in application, surface texture and the age of the existing coating can sometimes remain visible. For larger or more noticeable repairs, repainting the entire wall or a defined section may provide a more uniform result.
