Our hand painted samples (210mm x 100mm) are made in our MATTE finish (except our 'Effect' colours that come in GLOSS samples), and they are hand painted to achieve the most truthful result. Use it as a tool — hang it on the wall to see how the hue interacts with others colours and materials, observe how it changes with the daylight, or use it as part of a moodboard.
Our 80 ML paint and 8 oz. (Half pint) samples are made in our MATTE finish. Paint a square or a circle on the wall to see how the hue interacts with others colours and materials, and observe how the colour changes with the daylight.
If you have a specific request for another finish or variant, you can write to us at bleo@bleocollective.com
Note for North American Customers
Our hand painted samples are all crafted by hand in Europe and use a finish that differs slightly from what is available in the United States. As a result, the base material varies, and a few of the colours may show subtle differences compared to the final paint produced for the US market.
These differences are minimal — the result of careful adjustments made during the colour development process in our lab. Each colour has been meticulously refined and approved by our creative collaborators specifically for the North American market. Still, at Blēo, we believe in transparency and clear communication.
We strongly recommend ordering our hand-painted samples as a reference — and, just as we advise our European customers, always testing with actual paint before beginning any project.
Please note: Samples are shipped directly from our studio in Copenhagen. While we dispatch them within a few days, North American customers should expect a deliverytime of 6–9 working days after ordering.
In Europe, Blēo offers a comprehensive range of nine premium paint products, including traditional wall finishes, wood and metal coatings, floor-specific paint, and high-performance option for humid environments. This includes ultra-matte textures, soft matte sheens, and a selection of effect and metallic finishes that respond to light with nuance and depth.
In North America, we currently offer three core paint finishes:
MATTE, SEMI GLOSS, and WET ROOM — carefully selected to meet the foundational needs of both residential and professional projects. These finishes are formulated to deliver high durability, beautiful colour depth, and low environmental impact.
We are actively working to expand our U.S. offering and will introduce more finishes later this year. As our production grows, our full European assortment will be made gradually available across North Americ.
Primer might look like regular white paint, but it’s thicker and contains more pigment. Think of it as a base coat, providing a foundation that ensures a flawless finish. We have gathered the most imporant primers right here: Primers
In general, it's usually not necessary to use primer when you are painting with our ULTRA MATTE or MATTE finishes. Our paint is of so good quality that you simply don't need a primer. If you are in doubt, please email us: bleo@bleocollective.com and we will get back to you right away.
Primer isn’t always required, but you may need it when:
Your surfaces are porous and textured. Without being primed properly, too much paint will be absorbed, and you’ll need more than two layers to get a desired result.
You are about to make a radical change in colour. Whether you want to go from dark to light walls, or the other way around.
Your surface is matte, and you want to go glossy, or the other way around.
You made several repairs using filler and sandpaper, and your surfaces are now “spotted” and imperfect. You need to cover up stains and colour variations before applying paint.
Your walls are new and have not yet been painted. They could be drywall, skim coated drywall or plastered walls. A base layer of primer will help you save paint in the end.
Primer costs less than regular paint, so it’s generally a good idea to saturate and prep surfaces with primer before finishing with paint.
Minimise paint waste by estimating how much paint you will need before starting a project.
1 L of our paint covers approximately:
— 9 m2, when painted in one layer — 4,5 m2, when painted in two layers — 3 m2, when painted in three layers
We recommend to use primer beneath your paint, when necessary. Otherwise, two layers of paint are enough for the main part of our colours, unless otherwise stated above, in our product description.
Still in doubt? Write us at bleo@bleocollective.com and let us help you with your calculations.
Leftover paint?Keep it for another day. It’s possible to use leftover paint for up to two years after purchase, if stored correctly. The product should be stored at room temperature in a dry environment, and kept out of reach of children.
There can be colour differences between one finish to another if the base is changing (eg. from MATTE to HIGH GLOSS or MINERALS), so we always recommend that you test both the colour and the finish you want before you start on your paint project.
