House in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen
In Cathrine de Lichtenberg’s Frederiksberg home in Copenhagen, colour functions as a material. Surfaces are organised into calm tonal fields, with soft transitions and controlled contrasts, creating a coherent and quiet spatial rhythm. As a colourist and interior consultant, Cathrine works with colour as a tool for atmosphere and well-being, focusing on how tones respond to light and influence our sense of balance. Her approach grew from personal experience, shaped by a period of recovery in which gentle, harmonious palettes supported a feeling of safety, a perspective that continues to guide her practice.
Blēo’s colours appears throughout the home, used across walls, ceilings and woodwork to create a unified, tonal environment. Here, colour sets the structure of the space rather than acting as decoration, allowing each surface to contribute to a composed and grounded interior.
The home features a various yet precise blend of Blēo tones: NO DE 06 Shadow Blue by Note (Design Studio) on the ceilings; BA OS 17 Moss by Barber Osgerby on panels, door frames and the radiator; YV KO 23 Water by Yvonne Koné on selected panels and frames; NO AR 17 Shifting Sands by Norm Architects across the main living spaces; Griegst 03 Swirl by Griegst in the window alcove; Griegst 07 Lia by Griegst on the bedroom walls and ceiling, DA CH 08 Berlin + DA CH 09 Berlin by David Chipperfield in the kitchen, and CE BA 11 Jeorge Silver on the wardrobe.
