Værtshus at Copenhagen Architecture Forum, 2026
Presented at Copenhagen Architecture Forum on Halmtorvet 27, Værtshus explored ideas of hosting, hospitality and the shared spaces that shape everyday urban life. Curated by Lauge Floris and Christine Bjerke, the exhibition transformed the gallery into a changing environment for encounters, conversations and collective participation.
Founded in 2014, Copenhagen Architecture Forum is a non-profit organisation dedicated to exploring how architecture shapes lives, communities and the world around us. Through exhibitions, public programmes and the Copenhagen Architecture Biennial, the organisation creates spaces for exchange across social, cultural and professional boundaries.
For Værtshus, a new architectural structure was introduced within the gallery, condensing the space and creating a series of shifting spatial experiences. Blēo colours were used throughout the installation to define individual zones and create varying atmospheres. NE HU 02 Shitian, BE PO 01 Frankly, BU ST 05 Sierra Rust and DA TH 08 Titian were applied in HIGH GLOSS, while NE HU 03 Yuwu, IN SE 18 Diner and HA RO 05 Raf were finished in ULTRA MATTE. The interplay between reflective and light-absorbing surfaces became an integral part of the exhibition, responding to changing daylight and the movement of visitors throughout the space.
Running from June to September 2026, the exhibition invited a rotating group of hosts, contributors and visitors to shape the everyday life of the space. As activities, conversations and perspectives continuously changed, the exhibition became a reflection on openness, community and the ways we inhabit the city together.
