Værtshus at Copenhagen Architecture Forum, 2026
Presented at Copenhagen Architecture Forum, Værtshus explored architecture as a framework for hosting, hospitality and shared urban life. Curated by Lauge Floris and Christine Bjerke, the exhibition transformed the gallery at Halmtorvet 27 into a changing environment for conversations, gatherings and collective participation.
Founded in 2014, Copenhagen Architecture Forum is a non-profit organisation dedicated to examining how architecture shapes people, communities and cities. Through exhibitions, public programmes and the Copenhagen Architecture Biennial, the organisation brings together architects, designers, artists and the public to explore the social role of the built environment.
For Værtshus, a new architectural structure reconfigured the gallery into a sequence of interconnected spaces with distinct atmospheres. Blēo colours played a central role in defining these spatial experiences. NE HU 02 Shitian, BE PO 01 Frankly, BU ST 05 Sierra Rust and DA TH 08 Titian were applied in HIGH GLOSS, while NE HU 03 Yuwu, IN SE 18 Diner and HA RO 05 Raf were finished in ULTRA MATTE. The dialogue between reflective and light-absorbing finishes became an integral part of the exhibition, responding continuously to daylight, movement and changing perspectives throughout the space.
Running from June to September 2026, Værtshus invited a rotating programme of hosts, contributors and visitors to shape the exhibition through talks, gatherings and shared experiences. Rather than remaining static, the installation evolved over time, demonstrating how architecture, colour and material can create spaces for participation, exchange and everyday life.
