Apartment in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen

In this 230 m² family apartment in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, JO PA 04 Cotton by John Pawson for Blēo has been used throughout, creating a continuous architectural backdrop across the home. Applied in ULTRA MATTE to walls and ceilings, the warm white responds softly to changing daylight and brings cohesion to the apartment’s generous interconnected spaces.

Developed by John Pawson as part of Whitescale, his collection of fourteen nuanced whites for Blēo, JO PA 04 Cotton takes its reference from the natural softness of dried cotton. Rather than appearing as a stark white, the colour has a subtle warmth that allows light, shadow and architectural proportions to define the interior.

Dinesen timber floors introduce natural warmth and texture, while the bespoke kitchen by Snedker Sixten continues the apartment’s focus on craftsmanship and considered materials. Against these elements, Cotton acts as a restrained architectural surface, allowing the character of the wood, furniture and objects to remain present without interruption.

The result is a generous Copenhagen home for a family of four, where a single carefully considered colour creates continuity between rooms and demonstrates how subtle variations of white can shape the experience of an entire interior.
