MU SE 11 Dark Blue Tile by Muller Van Severen
A deep, dark blue — like a clear night sky. Rich and romantic, this hue carries a quiet intensity. Muller Van Severen once used it for a lamp, a subtle nod to the moonlight that inspired it.
The tiles are made using traditional Moroccan techniques, shaped and glazed by hand from natural clay. This process creates subtle variations in tone, texture, and surface reflection — differences that are not flaws, but part of each tile’s unique character. Because they are handmade, we recommend ordering 5-10% extra to allow for sorting, cuts, and a small number of tiles that may arrive chipped or broken. This is standard for artisanal tilework. You will receive a 10 × 10 cm sample, representing one possible tone within the full colour spectrum. The images shown reflect a range of tiles to give a sense of the natural variation and rhythm of each shade.
A sample tile is available for 50 DKK, and the full tiles are priced at 2.200 DKK per square metre, including VAT. Orders can be picked up at our studio in central Copenhagen, or we can arrange worldwide shipping. Delivery times vary depending on the quantity ordered, the chosen colour, and your location. To inquire or place an order, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

    Tiles by Muller Van Severen

A collaboration between Blēo and Belgian design duo Muller Van Severen, this tile collection brings together traditional Moroccan zellige craftsmanship with a bold, contemporary colour sensibility. Each of the 12 tiles is handmade in Fez using centuries-old techniques — hand-cut, glazed, and intentionally irregular. The high-gloss finish and subtle variations in tone bring depth and movement to the surface, while the colours, developed by Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen, reflect their intuitive, sculptural approach to design. Rich in texture and precise in tone, the collection invites creative application — from quiet accents to bold compositions.

Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen’s work — better known as Muller Van Severen — were both started as artists, their work naturally positioned somewhere between design and art. The duo creates sculpturally interesting ‘furniture objects’ with the space around it in mind, inspired by their shared passion for art, architecture and materials. Simultaneously, their designs appear to be created almost intuitively, with total effortlessness, as if the designers were drawing with crayons in space. Found in homes as well as large-scale institutions, Muller Van Severen's own production pieces are handmade by small-scale fabricators and skilled artisans, with an honesty to the rawness and irregularity of the chosen material.
