Salad by Inga Sempe

Salad noun /ˈsæl.əd/ a dish consisting of mixed ingredients, frequently vegetables, sometimes fruits, often toppings, and dressings. Typically served chilled or at room temperature, though it can also be served warm. A salad is frequently colourful, much like Salad by Inga Sempé, inspired by the salade niçoise, a french culinary speciality, and the work of the french ceramist Bernard Palissy (1510-1589). A palette of 24 vibrant ingredients that taste delicious together—a mix of sweet, sour, bitter, salty, savoury, and umami.

Inga Sempé is a French designer living and working from her small studio in Paris, where she is assisted by two other designers and the cat Choupette. Founding her eponymous practice in 2001, she has worked with HAY, Kvadrat, Reform, Ligne Roset, Alessi, iittala, LucePlan, and Svenskt Tenn, to name a few. Inga’s designs are as eclectic and elegant as she is, unique in the true sense of the word, often a cheeky play on the balance of aesthetic and function. Simple and timeless with a tongue-in-cheek feel, her work tickles the senses as much as they do the mind.
