Product & Application
General Information
Terracotta is a natural ceramic material made from clay, shaped by hand and fired at high temperatures. Its inherent warmth, tactile surface and subtle variation have made it a fundamental architectural material for centuries.
Blēo's Terracotta collection is handmade in southern Spain using locally sourced clay and traditional production methods. Each tile is unique, with natural differences in colour, texture, edge and dimension that reflect the handmade process. These variations are an integral part of the material and contribute to the depth and character of the finished surface.
Suitable for both floors and walls, the collection is available in twelve formats and two carefully selected colours — Red Terracotta and Sand Terracotta. The range is designed to offer flexibility across residential and commercial interiors while maintaining a calm, timeless architectural expression.
Terracotta is a porous material and should be sealed after installation with an appropriate treatment suitable for the intended application. Correct installation and maintenance will ensure a durable surface that develops a natural patina over time.

Installation & Grouting
Surface Preparation
Ensure the substrate is well-compressed, dry, and free from grease, oil, dust, or loose material. For outdoor or wet environments, prepare the surface with a suitable waterproof membrane. Moisture levels should be checked with an appropriate instrument and must not exceed 2%. Residual damp may result in visible spots or colour changes. Glass tiles should be applied to a flat, even surface with a consistent background colour. For best results, the surface may be painted white and sealed with PVA or an equivalent product.
Variation
A small degree of variation is inherent to this product and considered part of its character. We recommend opening all boxes before installation and planning the layout on a dry surface in advance.
Installation
Glass tiles must be installed with a minimum 2 mm grout line; smaller spacing is not suitable. Wider joints can be chosen as a design decision. Grout lines are necessary to allow for expansion and contraction — glass tiles cannot be butt-jointed.
Use grout and adhesive in the same colour for a consistent result. Apply adhesive with a notched trowel to fully cover the back of each tile, inserting 2 mm spacers during installation. Clean excess adhesive regularly with water and a soft sponge, and remove spacers before grouting.
Maintain a 2 mm gap at internal corners and around trims to reduce the risk of cracking. After grouting, clean the surface with water and remove any residue once dry. Finish corners and trims with silicone or mastic in the same colour as the grout.
Maintenance & Care
Clean tiles regularly with mild soap and water or a neutral cleaner. Avoid acids, caustics, harsh fillers, or abrasives, as these may damage the surface.
