valerie_colours — Veerle Wenes

Veerle Wenes (1956) is a Belgian gallerist, trained architect, and art director. In the 1980s Veerle Wenes opened the concept and creation agency, SCRITTO, creating colours for the furniture-fabric industry. 

Wenes has curated countless exhibitions, among others the celebrated Le Fabuleux Destin du quotidien at MAC's Grand-Hornu (2010). This new passion led her to open valerie_traan gallery in 2010, located in central Antwerp. valerie_traan was born to push to boundaries between art, architecture, and daily objects by commissioning exhibtions by contemporary artists and designers. Since its opening, valerie_traan gallery has hosted more than 75 exhibitions. 

As of 2015, Veerle Wenes is the co-founder and art director of design brand valerie_objects, part of Serax, working with designers such as Muller Van Severen, Big Game, Destroyers/Builders, Maarten Baas, and Maria Scarpulla, to name a few. 

In 2023, Wenes opened valerie_troost gallery in Oostende, Belgium, an appendix to valerie_traan gallery. This year, in 2025, she is launching valerie_colours with Blēo; colour being her long-time passion.
