Scented, Glasgow, Scotland
Located within Glasgow's historic Italian Centre, Scented reimagines the fragrance store as a calm, sensory environment. Blēo paint and Muller Van Severen ceramic tiles are used throughout the interior, where soft tonal shifts, glazed surfaces and natural light support an atmosphere designed for discovery rather than display.
Opened in 2025, Scented presents niche and independent fragrances through olfactory families rather than brands, encouraging visitors to explore scent through character, memory and mood. Guided sessions take place around a central fragrance bar, transforming the retail experience into something slower, more personal and highly tactile.
The interior draws inspiration from the faded yellow façades and quiet proportions of the surrounding Italian Centre. A restrained palette of off-whites defines the sculptural walls and ceilings, using MU SE 08 Vanilla, JO PA 06 Milk and JO PA 07 Vellum to introduce subtle shifts in tone while maintaining a calm and cohesive expression.
At the centre of the space, a monolithic fragrance bar is clad in Muller Van Severen ceramic tiles in MU SE 03 Mint and MU SE 08 Vanilla, paired with a stainless steel worktop. The glazed surface introduces gentle reflections and depth, allowing colour to change naturally throughout the day as daylight moves across the interior.
Throughout the project, colour is used with restraint. Rather than defining the architecture, painted surfaces and ceramic tiles work together to establish rhythm, warmth and quiet contrast, creating an environment where visitors can focus on the experience of scent without distraction.
