Simone Book Services in Copenhagen

Simone Book Services in Copenhagen

Simone Book Services is a bookshop in Copenhagen sourcing and curating independent and hard-to-find books and magazines on art, design, architecture, photography and culture for creatives and brands.

The store is organised as a sequence of connected rooms without doors, creating an open plan that can be read and used as one continuous space. A mobile counter, freestanding aluminium shelving and adaptable furniture allow the interior to transform easily, while talks, exhibitions and archive material can unfold simultaneously across different parts of the store.

Colour plays a defining role within this architectural framework. Walls throughout the main spaces are painted in JO PA 05 Flour by John Pawson for Blēo, a warm, nuanced white that creates a soft, luminous backdrop for books, objects and changing displays. In the Red Room, CE BA 04 Divya Red by Cecilie Bahnsen for Blēo introduces a deeper, more immersive atmosphere, giving the room a distinct identity while remaining connected to the overall spatial sequence.

The contrast between Flour and Divya Red reinforces the flexibility of the interior: one creates continuity and openness, while the other defines a more concentrated and expressive setting. Together, architecture, colour and movable elements allow Simone Book Services to function as both a bookstore and a cultural platform, adapting to different forms of use.
