Københavns Kunsthandel
Københavns Kunsthandel — Copenhagen Art Trade — specializes in quality art from the 19th and 20th centuries, especially abstract art from the mid-20th century, with a focus on historical artworks and artist estates, and offers a simple, informal trading process with transparent prices as an alternative to contemporary art galleries and auction houses.
Københavns Kunsthandel was founded by art dealer Johs Schmidt; "After 20 years in the art industry, including 12 years as a senior appraiser in the auction industry, I wanted to be fully responsible for the objects I sell. With Copenhagen's Kunsthandel, I finally have the opportunity to surround myself only with the art I love, regardless of who created it and when.”
In February 2025 they present a rare sales exhibition with paintings and drawings by two female modernists: Astrid Holm (1876 – 1937) painter, weaver and student of Henri Matisse, and Bizzie Høyer (1888 – 1971), painter, teacher, art educator for students applying to the Danish Academy of Fine Arts.
The walls are painted with colours from the Color Interactions by Josef Albers for Blēo. The colours are curated by August Studio and the owner, Signe M. Jensen, chose JAAF 03 Plate IV-1 and JAAF 04 Plate V-5 by Josef Albers.
