Cecilie Manz

Cecilie Manz is a Danish designer based in Copenhagen. Since establishing her studio in 1998, she has developed furniture, lighting, objects and interiors defined by clarity, restraint and a deep understanding of everyday life.

About

After graduating from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts – The School of Design in 1997, Cecilie Manz established her own studio in Copenhagen the following year. Today, she is internationally recognised as one of the leading voices in contemporary Scandinavian design.

Her work spans furniture, lighting, ceramics, textiles and industrial design, developed for companies including Fritz Hansen, Fredericia, Muuto, Kasthall, Georg Jensen, Bang & Olufsen and Duravit. Across disciplines, her designs are characterised by careful proportions, quiet functionality and a thoughtful understanding of how objects become part of everyday life.

Alongside her industrial collaborations, experimental prototypes and one-off pieces remain an important part of her practice. This ongoing dialogue between research, craftsmanship and production allows each project to evolve through observation, making and refinement rather than through a predetermined visual style.

For Blēo, Cecilie Manz extends this approach into colour, developing a palette defined by subtle tonal shifts, quiet warmth and architectural restraint. Like her furniture and objects, the collection is designed to support everyday living through simplicity, balance and longevity.
