Step 1 — SHOP for supplies

The first step in your paint project is to gather the necessary materials. You will need: 

• Paint. Read our guide here, on how to calculate the correct amount. 
• Paintroller for matte or glossy paints and maybe a roller extension pole
• Paint brushes for cutting in and painting plane surfaces
• Painters tape
• Trays for paint and maybe a small paint pail
• A putty knife, spackle and sandingpaper depending on the condition of the surfaces you are about to paint
• Masking paper 
• A sponge, cleaning cloth, a bucket, water and mild detergent for cleaning
