Studio, Workshop, Home by Daniel Rybakken

Daniel Rybakken’s colour palette is a play in three parts and 12 colours—Studio, Workshop and Home. Studio contains accent colours for smaller objects that you would like to pop, while Workshop explores the natural beiges of model making; raw wooden materials, primers, and putty. Home concludes the palette with colours that are tried, tested and chosen for Daniel Rybakken’s own abode.

Daniel Rybakken set up his Studio Daniel Rybakken in Gothenburg in 2008, quickly becoming one of Scandinavia’s most versatile and singular designers. Treading a fine line between art and design when creating functional furniture, lighting and objects for clients such as Luceplan, Artek, Vitra and e15, he builds, experiments and questions the mechanics of life in the process. Rybakken’s work is often minimal with a distinctive silhouette, as he is inspired by graphic design and two-dimensional form. Particularly preoccupied with the concept of daylight, he continues to build on his research on how to reproduce its subtle effects in artificial lighting.
