About
After studying at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design and the School of Arts and Crafts at the University of Gothenburg, Daniel Rybakken established Studio Daniel Rybakken in Gothenburg in 2008. His work spans furniture, lighting and industrial design, developed for leading international companies including Artek, Vitra, Luceplan, e15, Alias and Hay.
Rybakken's practice is driven by observation and experimentation, often questioning how objects influence the way we experience space. His work is characterised by restrained forms, precise proportions and a graphic clarity that allows function and atmosphere to take precedence over expression.
Light remains a central theme throughout his practice. Over the past two decades, he has developed an extensive body of research exploring daylight, shadow and perception, investigating how artificial light can recreate the subtle qualities of natural illumination. This ongoing exploration has established Daniel Rybakken as one of the leading voices in contemporary lighting design.
For Blēo, Daniel Rybakken extends this sensitivity to colour, developing a collection that reflects his interest in light, atmosphere and spatial perception. The palette is designed to respond quietly to changing daylight, allowing colour to become an integral part of architecture rather than a decorative addition.
