Bertjan Pot
Dutch designer Bertjan Pot is internationally recognised for his experimental approach to colour, materials and pattern. Working across furniture, lighting and interior objects, his practice is driven by curiosity, research and a desire to discover new possibilities through making.
About
After graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 1998, Bertjan Pot established his studio in Rotterdam, where he continues to develop furniture, lighting and interior objects for some of the world's leading design companies. His work has been created for brands including Kvadrat, Cassina, HAY, Established & Sons and Moustache, while his designs form part of the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam and The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
Pot's work is characterised by an open and experimental process. Rather than following a recognisable formal style, each project begins with research into materials, construction techniques and production methods. Colour and pattern play an essential role throughout his practice, often emerging directly from the material itself or from the way objects are constructed.
This ongoing curiosity has made Bertjan Pot one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Dutch design. His collaboration with Blēo continues this exploration, translating his interest in colour into a collection developed specifically for architectural surfaces.
